Before the exams start, bags, books, lecture notes, coats or personal belongings should be left on the hanger, lectern or at a point deemed appropriate by the examiner. Each student is responsible for the items found on, under or on the side seats during the exam.
Students are required to keep their ‘ERU Student Identity Document’ or the ERU Student Certificate to be obtained from the Student Information System or E-Government platform on the desk during the exam.
Students must be ready in the exam hall before the exam starts. Students take their places in the hall in accordance with the exam layout plan, if any, posted by the proctor in charge. The examiners are fully authorised to change the places of the students without any explanation, as well as to take the necessary measures to ensure that the exam can continue in a healthy manner.
It is under the authority of the course instructor whether or not to admit students who are late for the exam. However, students who are late for the exam are not given additional time and no new student can be admitted to the exam after the first student who leaves the exam.
No student leaves the exam hall without signing the exam attendance report and submitting the exam paper. Students must comply with the exit times from the exam hall. Students who leave the exam hall for any reason cannot be admitted to the exam hall again.
During the exam, students must comply with all warnings of the examiners.
During the exam, portable and wearable electronic devices such as smart watches, voice recorders, bluetooth, etc. and mobile phones should be kept in a closed (de-energised) and out of reach. Such devices must not be activated in such a way that they can be seen and used in the exam hall before the end of the exam. If it is determined that such devices are open or available at the time of the exam, a report is kept about the student and legal action is initiated within the scope of ‘Article 54 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547’.
The tools and equipment that students can have with them during exams are determined by the course instructor according to the nature of the course. These tools and equipment can only be used by one student and cannot be shared. Which feature/functional calculators can be used in exams is determined by the course instructor.
If students eat or drink anything (except water) during the exam, make use of a resource (lecture notes, books, etc.) that is not permitted to be used by the course instructor, exchange pens/erasers, etc., look at another student's exam paper, show the exam paper to another student, exchange any information in writing/verbally, and similar actions, legal action will be initiated within the scope of Article 54 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547.
After the behaviour of the relevant student, which is considered to be cheating, is determined and the evidence of the concrete nature at the time is recorded immediately, the relevant student may be allowed to complete the exam with the decision of the invigilator and the course supervisor. In cases where the student is not allowed to complete the exam, the student's exam paper is taken and attached as an attachment to the report. All behaviours that may be considered as cheating by the invigilators and the course instructor are recorded in a report (Annex-1). The report is forwarded to the head of the department for action. When cheating or attempted cheating is recorded by the examiners, action is taken in accordance with the provisions of ‘Article 54 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547’. In cases where it is impossible to take the cheating material under custody, the officials add a visual sample of the material to the report. However, the student is required to submit the hidden copy data to the exam invigilator of his/her own free will. If the student resists to hand over the cheating material or prevents the visual sample from being taken, the situation in question is clearly stated and recorded in the minutes.
The exams of the students who disrupt the exam rules / order / functioning, prevent the exam from being held, argue with the examiners, do not accept the arrangements of the examiners regarding the exam, are evaluated by the relevant department head after the report prepared by the course supervisor and invigilators is prepared and the investigation processes are applied. In this case, disciplinary proceedings are also carried out in accordance with the provisions of ‘Article 54 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547’.
The student must notify the examiners when he/she has to leave the exam hall for a compulsory reason, even if there are no students leaving the exam. A report is kept about the student who does not act in accordance with this situation and it is processed for the initiation of the necessary disciplinary investigation in accordance with the relevant provisions of Article 54 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547.
Each student is responsible for any lecture notes that may be written on his/her seat, on the floor or on the wall, even if he/she did not write them. Each student should check his/her seat and surroundings, report any written notes to the supervisors and erase them.
The exam is deemed to have started when the exam paperwork starts to be distributed. From this moment on, students are forbidden to talk among themselves and to ask questions to the invigilators about the answers during the exam.
When handing in their exam papers, students should make sure that they have correctly written their identity details and signed the attendance sheet.
Students who leave the exam hall are forbidden to gather in front of the exam hall until the end of the exam, to comment on the exam questions, to talk loudly in front of the exam hall.
